STRETCHING ON IT'S OWN CANNOT SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE MUSCLE EXTENSIBILITY.

2003 Opening Day Introductions
I frequently get asked the question:
"I stretch regularly but I always seem to be so tight. Why isn't this helping me?"
The answer lies in the anatomy, the muscles being stretched.
The "quality" of the muscles being stretched. The muscle groups being stretched regularly are more than likely in poor condition, loaded with adhesions, contracture and restrictions.

It's no wonder those people who only rely on stretching for their flexibility are not performing well.

Stretching a muscle group without manually releasing the dysfunctional tissue is like waxing a dirty car....
An important step has been missed.

Using a simple analogy.....we all know how far you can stretch a tube sock. This represents healthy tissue. Put three staples in the center of the sock. These staples represent past injuries, adhesions, contracture, and fascial restrictions. Now try to stretch the sock. Not too much movement between the staples is there? No amount of stretching will remove these staples.
